VAPI HOUSE
Nestled in the quaint, industrial town of Gujarat, our design for this private residence is a confluence of traditional and modern architecture. The house is built around a courtyard, an ancient architectural concept used to aid cooling in warm climates like Vapi. However, the structure of the house itself proposes a blend of modern materiality and efficient space planning.
Our clients wanted a space that was not only private but also climate-responsive. Our design offered a solution by pulling a system of angled louvers out in the South-West direction to provide privacy from multifamily apartment buildings on the West and protect the dwelling from the harsh sun from the South. The cantilevered overhanging volume also functions as the canopy for the outdoor seating area on the ground floor level overlooking the garden in the South.
